Obituary of MARJORIE ELIZABETH PROKOPENKO
MARJORIE ELIZABETH PROKOPENKO
Marjorie, beloved wife, mother and Grandmother passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Concordia Hospital at the age of 87. She is survived by her husband Paul, son Rick Penko and two grandchildren, Lauren and Stephen Penko.
Marjorie was born and raised in East Kildonan on April 10, 1931 and lived most of her life there. Marjorie met the love of her life Paul and were married on June 27, 1953 and enjoyed over 65 years of marriage together. Her working career started at the Hudson’s Bay Company in the fabric department. Her love of sewing grew from working at The Bay. She then moved to Dominion Stores as a bookkeeper for over 25 years and completed her career at Safeway in 1996. Besides sewing, she was an avid gardener. Every year, her flowers and vegetables was something to behold and enjoy. Her very favourite passion were her two grandchildren Lauren and Stephen. Many happy Saturdays were spent shopping together with Baba. Travel was another passion. Some very memorable car trips crisscrossing North America exploring what the Continent had to offer. She always believed traveling was a great education.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Concordia Hospital for all their help and support along with other family, friends and neighbours.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 23, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg, Manitoba.
