CHESTER LOBCHUK

Peacefully, with members of his family nearby, on December 27, 2018, Chester was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord, Jesus Christ, whom we believe said to him: “Well done, my good and faithful servant!” (Matthew 25:21)

            Chester Lobchuk was born on January 24, 1928, in Peratyn, Poland.

            Chester leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Joan (Lenartowicz), his daughters Teresa, Donna (Chris Rutkowski), and his son Chester Jr. (Lori). He also leaves to mourn his brother Kasmir and sister Mary (Rowinski), as well as six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

            Chester was a devout Catholic and faithfully attended Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church where he could often be seen in the kitchen, helping his wife and other members of the CWL prepare food for church functions.

            Chester enjoyed spending time with his family at their cottage at Beaconia, Manitoba. It was a beautiful home away from home that he built by hand, welcoming many extended family and visitors to enjoy bonfires, relaxing and simply treasuring the outdoors.

            Above all, Chester loved his family ­— every one of them. He delighted in the squeals of laughter of his great-grandchildren, and he relished simply sitting and talking with his extended family during reunions or just a handful in his backyard.

He will be missed by us all, and deeply loved by us all, and we know he is now safe and without pain, comforted by God.

            The Rosary and viewing will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2019, at Holy Ghost Parish, 341 Selkirk Ave., Winnipeg, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4387 Main Street, West Saint Paul, Manitoba.
