S. Edward Donaldson
March 18, 1931 - November 2, 2018
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Samuel Edward Donaldson, aged 87 years, on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Eddy (aka Slim) is survived by his wife, Ann, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Eddy was predeceased by his parents, siblings, and his son, Leonard. Eddy was born and raised in Jamaica. He and Ann moved to England where they married, resided for several years, and had 3 children before coming to Winnipeg.
Eddy was a welder by trade. He worked on various projects in England, including King's College Hospital. After he moved to Canada, he became a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers and worked in the Manitoba area.
Eddy was a great domino player and won several tournaments. He also enjoyed watching horse racing. In his younger years he played cricket and had recently became a fan of curling.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on November 14, 2018 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, preceded by a viewing at 9:00 am. Interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's memory may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
