Nicola Anna Ida Pangman-Klaric
2006-2018
On October 26, 2018, two innocent, gentle, and beautiful souls were taken tragically in a house fire, so it is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Maria and daughter, granddaughter, and niece Nicola.
Maria is survived by her daughters, Olivia, Doretta, and Anita; sisters, Klara and Ida; grandson, Ian; many more nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Nikola (Klaric); parents, Anna and Ludwig (Freibert); sisters and brother Louise, Helga, and Robert.
Nicola is survived by her mother, Anita (Klaric); father, Cliff (Pangman); brother, Ian; and her aunts, Olivia, Doretta, Mathilda; and uncle Lawrence. She is predeceased by her grandfather, Nikola (Klaric); great grandmother, Ida (Contois); grandmother, Julia Ann Marks; and her auntie, Amanda Guiboche.
Maria emigrated to Canada from Wolfsmunster, Germany at the age of 21. She resided in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she met her true love Nikola. They married in 1968 and raised their three daughters in the Point Douglas Community. She was adventurous in her childhood and adult life. She loved driving her brother Robert’s motorcycle and enjoyed swimming at the Saale river with friends. She worked hard on the family farm, and loved to travel. She was a highly skilled and experienced seamstress and dressmaker working in both the high fashion and garment industries. She loved the Point Douglas community. You would often see her cleaning the street, visiting and talking with neighbours, and volunteered in previous years at Norquay School and the community centre. She was a recognizable person within the community, attending church regularly and helping to keep the neighbourhood safe, clean, and a place to call ‘home’ for everyone. She had many skillsets -- from building the house fence, to gardening, or putting a roof on the garage, Maria was a ‘Jill of all trades’. Maria (mom) was our rock, our foundation, our heart and home. Always practising her Catholic faith - kindness, love, and compassion for herself and others were her tenets. She has instilled these principles, beliefs, and practices in each of her children and grandchildren. Her granddaughter, Nicola, embraced her grandmother’s teachings and talents while developing her own talents and interests.
Nicola was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 20, 2006, to her parents, Anita and Cliff. There, she attended Norquay School from grade N- 6 and then Gonzaga Middle School to start a new year in Grade 7. She had a few close, cherished friendships growing up in Point Douglas, yet she always had the ability, kindness, and whim to make many more at her new school. She was loved so much by her family and friends, and the principles, teachers, and staff who knew her from Norquay and Gonzaga. She was described by many as kind and caring with a sense of integrity and humility- she was an old soul in a young heart. She was a talented, intelligent, and creative young spirit, and an exceptional student. She was fearless and always loved a challenge. She enjoyed rock hunting, archery, horseback riding, swimming, and fishing. She loved Pandas and advocated for ‘no Panda burgers’. She shared in her big brother’s love for video games, becoming an expert gamer. More importantly, Nicola loved art and baking. She made the best cupcakes and was a gifted young artist. She focused her energies on developing her art skills in drawing, painting, sculpting, and water color. Nicola’s dedication and commitment to school work and art were evident in the many awards and scholarships she received. Her dream, direction, and future were to pursue her artistic interests at an art school of higher learning.
We love you, and will miss you dearly, momma and Nicola.
We give a special thank you to the Point Douglas Community, Gonzaga Middle School, and The Fort Garry Hotel for all their love and support.
