LEONARD THOMAS LAVALLEE

November 4, 1949 – Nov. 2, 2018

It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Tom on Nov. 2, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer.  He was predeceased by his parents, George and Kathleen Lavallee,  a brother, Kenny Lavallee, and step-daughter, April Boulette.  Tom will be forever missed by his wife, Lena; his son, Sam Lavallee and his grandson, Brett Lavallee. He also leaves behind his siblings – Judy Moar (Jim); Donald; Jim (Madeline); Dave (Peggy); Janice (Jason); Sharon Leach  (Gerald); Lawrence (Roma); Bob (Louise); Georgette Morand (Shane); and Sheila (Rodney Scott).  There were also three step-children – Reuben Boulette (Kate Vermette); Crystal Boulette (Harris Everett); and Mitch Boulette (Kelly Chastellaine), along with 8 step-grandchildren – Saisha, Kyra, Harris, Alexis, Razelle, Emma, Drake and Ruby.  He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, relatives, his Ducharme in-laws and numerous friends. 

Tom lived and worked most of his life in Winnipeg.  During his life, he worked a variety of jobs and after being employed with the Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre for over 25 years, he retired in 2015.  He spent his days doing what he loved the most – cooking, watching old movies, making his famous bannock and playing bingo and keno.  Tom enjoyed spending quality time with his son and grandson.

Over the past five months, Tom had health struggles and finally succumbed to the illness on Nov. 2/18.  In lieu of flowers, please forward a donation to the Cancercare Manitoba Foundation. 

Active pallbearers will Chris Lavallee, George Lavallee, William Hudson, Kenny Lavallee, Dustin Leach and Jason Chorney.  The rest of Tom’s family and friends can consider themselves honorary pallbearers. 

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, 11:00 am at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.  Viewing will begin an hour prior to services.  Following the services, internment will occur at Brookside Cemetery.
