Obituary of WALTER LEONID DIACHINA
WALTER LEONID DIACHINA
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather Walter Diachina, on Monday October 22, 2018.
Walter leaves to mourn his wife, Olga, and will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Selina Maxwell (Noel Livingston) of Lloydminster AB; sons, John Diachina (Anita) of Garner NC, and Harold Diachina (Huda Alabdulaali) of Alexis Creek BC; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Walter was predeceased by his son, David Diamond; sister, Helen; brother, Thor; and parents Leonid and Mary.
Walter was born near Sheho, SK. He married Olga Sarabin on June 10, 1951 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Walter worked as the head of ladies shoe purchasing for all Canadian Hudson’s Bay Company stores for a great number of years.
Funeral Liturgy has already taken place at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral on Friday, October 26, 2018. Interment was at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
Our family extends a warm thank you to Father Gene Maximiuk, Cropo Funeral Chapel, Dr. Richard Lindenschmidt, and all the staff at Red River Extended Care & Woodlands Court.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations would be appreciated by the family to be made to Holy Trinity Cathedral, 1175 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB R2W 3S4. These donations should be noted as a memoriam for Walter Diachina, who had a strong affinity for the Holy Trinity Cathedral and Father Gene Maximiuk, who was and is a dear family friend and advisor.
