Obituary of MARIAN GLOVER

MARIAN GLOVER

Marian Glover passed away peacefully, late in the evening of October 22, 2018 and in Linda’s arms, surrounded by Paul and Gary.

Marian was born on April 24, 1930 in Nottingham, England. Marian married the love of her life at St. Helene’s Church on September 23, 1950, and they moved to Canada in May 1954 to settle in Winnipeg.

Always the caregiver, early on as a formal companion and housekeeper to other residents close to the first apartment they lived in on River Avenue, to the many young children she cared for over the years in her home-based daycare. She also enjoyed her time with her ladies, working part-time at the Winnipeg Tribune.

After their retirements, Mum and Dad continued to spend every summer at the cottage at Twin Beaches, with friends there that have become family to all of us. They were also fortunate to spend 22 winter holidays in Hawaii. Mum will be remembered for her avid love of tea, and later, “happy hour”, sweet treats such as mini-marshmallows and jellies, and her fondness for watching (and talking to) the birds, and small animals both at their house on Egerton, and the cottage.

Marian was predeceased many years ago by her parents and sister, and her husband Ernie in August 2011. Not a day has gone by since Ernie’s loss that she has pined for his company. We are convinced that he has been busy building her planters and birdhouses, and awaiting her arrival with the sweetest, warmest, most delicious cup of tea.

Surviving to celebrate her life, cherishing many fond memories are her children, Brian (Cindy) of Edmonton, and Linda (Gary) Smyrski of East St. Paul and their families. She leaves five grandchildren: Paul, Jacqueline (Marc), Julie, Amber and Breanna, and three great-grandchildren, Kyle, Keana and Everett, and close friends who have become family.

As per Marian’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service is to be held. A private family gathering will take place.

“May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”

Memorial donations may be made to Jocelyn House.
