A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Gordon Clifford, 87, formerly of Peterborough, and the Village of Millbrook, passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre (Winnipeg) with his family by his side on October 2, 2018. He had bravely confronted and fought cancer. He was born April 9, 1931 in a log home in Warsaw, Ontario, and resided in Millbrook, Ontario for 50 years. He owned and operated two well-known businesses, Shady Nook Dairy, and Good Fortune Chemical.

Gordon was an active member of the Lions Club and member of St. Andrews United Church for many years. He will be forever remembered as kind, giving, and available to anyone in need.

He was predeceased by his parents, Fred Clifford and Daisy Davis Clifford, his sisters Irene Clifford Carr and Murietta Clifford Mowry, and his brother Harvey Clifford; by his loving wife of 42 years, Margaret Ramsay Clifford, by his daughter, Marianne Clifford Colvin, and by his son, Hugh Clifford.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol Clifford Hargreaves (John) of Winnipeg; his son, Tim Clifford (Christiane) of Vancouver; his grandchildren, Stephanie Colvin, Robin Colvin Marshall (Wesley); Jonah and Nathan Cliffford; and his great-grandchildren Lily and Ruby Marshall. His brothers, Eric and Wayne Clifford of Springville and his sisters-in-law Mabel Sexsmith Clifford of Peterborough, Beverley Ramsay Sexsmith of Kingston, and Marie McGaughey Ramsay of Kingston also survive him.

Cremation has taken place.  An interment service for family will be announced later, with ashes laid to rest at Gardiner’s Cemetery in Millbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
