CAROLYN STEPHANIE POPP (MARUDA) January 1, 1932 - September 18, 2012 It is with sad hearts we say goodbye to our mother and grandmother Carolyn, who departed this life at the age of 80 on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Saint Boniface Hospital with her family at her side. Left to cherish her memory are her children Caren Sych(Brian), Barry Popp(Tracy), Cheryl Mucz(Dave) of Calgary, Michael Popp(Kim) of Calgary: her 8 grandchildren Kristen(Steve), Brandon, Drew, Teagan, Haley, Carlee, Rachel and Samantha: her brother Tony Maruda, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Carolyn was born to Antoni and Agnieszka and raised in Narol, Manitoba. She married Adam in 1952 and eventually had 4 children. Carolyn began her working career at Eaton's, followed by trucking for the Winnipeg Tribune and Winnipeg Free Press. Carolyn went back to school in 1976 to become a nurse and worked at the Winnipeg Children's Hospital, Private Nursing Care and Beausejour Hospital. She had a passion for Market Gardening and grew a variety of delicious vegetables for many years. Carolyn spent a lot of her time volunteering for the Catholic Woman's League and the St. Boniface Hospital Emergency. She was a talented baker and fabulous cook and prepared many delicious family dinners over the years. Carolyn had a special talent for sewing, quilting and knitting and completed many beautiful projects. We will miss all the special talents that our mother shared with all of us. Carolyn was predeceased by her husband Adam in 2010; her parents Antoni and Agnieszka Maruda; numerous brothers and sisters in-law and cousins. The family wishes to thank St. Boniface Hospital doctors and nursing staff and Interlake Homecare for their compassion and caring during Carolyn's stay in the hospital and at home.
