Obituary of MARY DONKO
Mary Donko
(Nov. 20,1932 -Sept. 22,2018)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. On Saturday, Sept. 22, after a long battle with cancer, Mary passed peaceably at St. Joseph’s Residence. She was predeceased by her father, mother and husband. Remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Diane Storozuk and Deborah (James) Paluch, her son Douglas Wolfe, her brothers, Chester (Olga) Pipala (St. Catherine, ON) and Edward (Rita) Pipala (St. Anne, MB), her grandchildren, Len (Heather) Storozuk (Cochrane, Alta), Tanya Quinn, Melanie Paluch, Nick Wolfe and Kim Paluch and great grandchildren, niece and nephews.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her children and their families. She took great joy in gardening and finding new types of plants to grow in her flower beds. It was a yearly tradition to wander the greenhouses around the city in search of something new and exciting. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. While living at Amber Meadows, mom started to knit toques for charity. She continued to knit toques in St. Joseph’s Residence and gave them to staff and friends. When she got tired of knitting she started putting together puzzles. This became the center of our visits with her.
I would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Residence for their dedication and support shown to our mother during the time she was there, especially in the last month. As per Mary’s request there will be no prayers or funeral service. Cremation has taken place and a private internment will be done at a later date.
If so desired, donations can be made to Cancer Care in her memory.
