Obituary of JOYCE KOWALCHUK
JOYCE KOWALCHUK
In the loving embrace of her family, our mother, Joyce Kowalchuk, passed away on September 19, 2018.
Left to forever cherish her memory are her children Fern (Brian) Neyedli, Gary (Julie) Kowalchuk, Sharon (Jim Ingelbeen) Lucovic along with her grandchildren Heather and Andrea Neyedli, Adrian, Chris and Anastasia Kowalchuk, and Sarah and Steven Lucovic. She will be missed by her siblings Joe Tachinski, Anne and Lawrence Romanchuk, Vicki Bingham, and Mike Tachinski. Mom was predeceased by our father, Thomas, in 2011.
Our mother was born on March 15, 1936 to Samuel and Maria Tachinski at the family homestead in Pine Ridge Manitoba. Her family moved to farm in East St. Paul where she lived during her school age years. She married our dad in 1954 and they spent 57 wonderful years together. Mom devoted her early adult life to the upbringing of her family. After we reached adulthood, our parents moved several times in Western Canada, with the final move to Brandon Manitoba where they retired. Everywhere they lived our parents enjoyed meeting new people and making long lasting friendships.
Diagnosed with cancer, Mom showed her courage, grace and dignity. In the year that followed, the journey we shared had many challenges, setbacks and tears but it also gave us time to share laughter and memories.
We would like to express our heartfelt thank you to family and friends for the love and care over the last year, which allowed Mom to stay in her home and keep her independence that was so important to her.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with interment in the Ukrainian National Cemetery in Springfield.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Donations in Mom’s memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
We miss you Mom, Forever Remembered.
