Obituary of MURIEL PRADINUK

MURIEL PRADINUK (nee BIDOCHKA)

September 16,1929 to Sept 7, 2018

Our beautiful “Baba”; mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on September 7th, 2018, at the age of 88, surrounded by her family. Muriel will be lovingly remembered by her four children including; daughter Patricia Lotz (husband Ron), her sons Larry and Barry and daughter Cheryl Robertson (husband Doug); grandchildren Shauna Cornwell (Blaine), Anton (Stephanie), Jeff (Rachel), Erin & Shaney; her great grandchildren Sarah, Nate, Aiden, Jade and Natalie; as well as her sisters Nellie Schaworski, Rosie Ozubko (husband Ed) & Stella as well as brother Bob. She is predeceased by her mother and father, her husband Matthew, her daughter-in-law, Donna Pradinuk (nee Anton), her sister Helen Bidochka, and numerous in-laws.

Baba was born on September 16, 1929 to her parents Annie and Peter Bidochka. She grew up on a farm near Rossburn, Manitoba and met her husband to be at a young age, marrying Matthew Pradinuk at 15. They bought a farm near Birdtail, Manitoba where they started their family, before moving to Winnipeg in 1961. They raised their four children in the area of the West End where they lived for many years. When Matthew passed away in 1991, Muriel moved to North Kildonan to be closer to her sisters and children.

Baba valued family above all else. Her one true legacy rested in her family, who adored her. Throughout the years she enjoyed spending time having dinners at her children’s homes, drives through Kildonan Park with her sisters, visits to Folklorama, games of UNO or Rumoli with the grandkids, watching the Jets or the Royal Family on TV, trips out west to visit Cheryl’s family and Toonie Tuesday at KFC. She was proud of her Ukrainian heritage and shared in many traditions throughout the years.

Muriel was one of a kind, with the best sense of humour. Her patient, gentle spirit, and fun loving ways made her a true pleasure to be around. She had this aura of serenity and calm, peace and love. Being privileged enough to know Muriel’s love, and to be loved by her was for her family an incredible blessing. She truly was beautiful from the inside out and she only became more lovely as she got older. She was a very special lady; a true gift and treasure to all that knew her. She will be missed greatly.

Special thanks to the Palliative Care Staff Dr Susie and Janice, as well as the nurses and health care aids at on N1 North at Concordia Hospital for their amazing care and compassion.

A Celebration of Muriel’s Life will be held on Thursday, September 13 at 10:30a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main Street.

Muriel was an animal lover. Over the years she enjoyed spending time with nearly 50 grand “fur” babies who enjoyed her pets, cuddles and the special voice she used with all of them. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society.
