Olga, I want to thank you for being part of my uncle’s life. I’m very sorry for your loss, with sincerity I would like to offer you my ear if you ever need to talk. I know we’ve never had the chance to really get acquainted, and I do feel guilty for not doing a better job at trying to keep in contact with you and my uncle.
My Uncle Bill had a lot of talent for freehand drawing, he drew pictures of celebrities from movies and television. I loved going through his portfolio and seeing all his art when ever I visited his home growing up. I remember telling him during one visit with him that I wanted to be an artist, he would then tell me to draw things that were in front of me (like cars or porcelain statuettes). I was told he once had a comic strip that ran in the paper in the 70’s, I will hunt for that strip at the library one day.
He had a love for Cadillacs, and told me to be sure to get a strong reliable car just like his. My sisters and I would hang out in the basement when my grandparents went to visit him and his wife in the early 90’s, where they had a dance floor and a bar. We’d pretend to serve drinks as if we were the characters on Cheers (in retrospect, probably not the healthiest imagination game to play as children) I guess my uncle thought it was cute tho. I’d love to have a replica of his licence plate from his car to hang up, you knew it was him no matter what car he drove. SO COOL, which inspired me to use that as my nick name in broadcasting school.
I hope we will be able to get together to celebrate his life. If there is anything at all I can do, please let me know.
