Obituary of ANN PICKLEY

ANN PICKLEY (Nee Kutcy) It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Ann on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the age of 90. Ann is survived by her children Diane (Bob), Audrey (Chuck), and John (Priscilla); her grandchildren Kelly (Jeff), Rob, Corinne, Charlene (Dave), Candi (Jamie), Duane (Danielle) and Michael (Krysten), and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Minnie, Teena, and Addy. Ann was predeceased by her husband John (1998), her parents Frances and Panko Kutcy, her sisters Mary and Nellie and her brothers Peter, Steve, Nick and Mike. Ann was born in Brokenhead, Manitoba in 1921 and grew up in that area. She moved to Central Patricia, Ontario when she was 19 and there she met and married her husband John. Her three children were born there and in 1946 they moved to Old Kildonan where they raised their family and farmed on a small scale. Ann worked full time in the sewing factories and for 27 years worked for Canada Post delivering mail in rural areas - Old Kildonan, West St. Paul and Transcona. She retired at the age of 72. Ann and her husband bought a farm in Teulon, Manitoba and she spent weekends both working and enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside. Ann worked hard throughout her life. She enjoyed planting a large garden each spring and sewing and knitting many of her children’s clothes. She loved baking and cooking, especially Ukrainian dishes. Family and friends often enjoyed her generous hospitality. Ann’s perseverance and independence allowed her to live in her own home where she was still able to care for herself until the very end. Ann was a remarkable person and a wonderful inspiration to her family and will be missed forever. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place at a later date. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
