I first met Suzanne in 1983. Suz and Mar Koskie provided ASL consultation for my interpreters in St. James school division. I then transferred to Manitoba government and had a chance to work regularly with Suzanne. I have always been inspired by the spiritual energy Suzanne brought in life and shared with those around her. I have so many fond memories of Suz, brainstorming ideas together for the deaf and hard of hearing curriculum document, road trips to Winkler and other rural areas and of course, her bright eyes and bright smile; such a caring, giving soul!

Some thirty years ago I knew Suzanne as an intern at Sojourners and always remember her bright spirit and smile. We reconnected through Facebook and her blog and I offered a weekly distance energy work; a Reiki treatment. We also followed the treatments with a conversation and I was taught once again the lesson that Suzanne already knew; that in giving we receive. The conversations with her were a window into her courage, faithfulness and joy as she faced her death with such grace. It felt like such a privilege to be beside her in this way. I am grateful for her life of grace and truth; and for the joy that radiated with her smile. She died the way she lived; with gratitude, a loving faith and a deep understanding of the Divine mystery.

Suzanne was truly one of my earth angel friends. Her ability to show kindness and compassion, to open her heart to many with genuine connection was a gift. She was a shining light in this world who made a difference. Although Suzanne has departed from this earth, she will remain alive in our hearts and minds. Heaven has now gained an angel who will be watching over us. I will miss Suzanne deeply, sending heartfelt condolences to her family.

Suzanne has reminded me of what it means to live and die with grace. She loved gently and gave generously of herself. She lived with such conviction and purpose and passed with a full and peaceful heart. She was not only an interpreter of language but she was an interpreter of life. I am so blessed to have known her and to have had the privilege of having her share a piece of her incredible life with me. Much Love my friend.

One of the things Suzanne shared with me was her deep concern for those she would leave behind. She was all too aware of the pain and sense of loss her passing would create and longed to spare those she loved. This in essence was the wonder of our Suzy Q, the selfless love she gave. She made me laugh, feel joy, and most of all, she connected . Her faith inspired and her bright light will shine for all. I hope in some way, knowing the blessing she was to all who had the joy to know her , that you find some comfort. My thoughts are with the friends and family .
