Obituary of LUVERNE COPPEN
LUVERNE ANN COPPEN
(NEE: KEILBACK)
May 17, 1934 – June 6, 2018-06-08
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Luverne completed her life journey which began May 17, 1934 in Beausejour, Manitoba.
Mom shared this journey alongside her husband and our father, George.
She was predeceased by Dad in 2010. She was also predeceased by her parents Henry & Caroline and her brothers Joseph and Clarence.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Dean (Diane), Heather (Bart), George (Heather) of British Columbia, Dawn (Doug) and eight beautiful grandchildren Brianna, Brendon (Christine), Michelle (Ross), Shannon (Brian), Alyson (Julien), Holly Mitchell (Teghan), Ryan & Great Grandson, Jayce. Mom is also survived by her sister Marjorie of British Columbia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mom lived and grew up on the family farm near Beausejour, MB. until 1953, when she moved to Winnipeg to attend Post Secondary school. In 1956, while employed at Mitchell Copp Jewelers, she met the love of her life, George (Art). They married in 1957 and celebrated 53 years together.
Mom worked at Miscercordia Hospital & joyfully worked on the postnatal (maternity) ward. She retired in 1995. During her retirement years Mom focused on her family & friends and spent many hours in her kitchen creating delicious meals. It gave her much joy baking delicious pies, cookies & other treats for her family.
Mom was a devote Catholic and lifelong member of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church and a proud Catholic Women’s League member.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for all the care, compassion and understanding they provided over the past 3 years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 12 at 11:00 am at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 315 Munroe Avenue.
Our mother was a pillar in the lives of her family and she will be forever missed.
