My condolences to the Thomson family. I got to know Ian from McDonald's over the last two decades. I can still picture him explaining how wrong it was for Shell to advertise how Nitrogen was good for cars and mileage. Nitrogen puts out fires, he would explain, talking from his experience as a fireman and fire investigator.
As my mother's brother was pilot overseas also, i brought pics in for him to relate to the plane he had flown and we had good discussions.
He told me how lucky and fortunate he had been and a lot of comrades were not during WW11.
My grandmother was Campbell so we had a few things in common.
Thank you for your service to our country, Ian.
