Obituary of JOY MOORS
JOY MOORS
(nee CRAIG)
February 3, 1928 - May 4, 2018
On May 4, 2018, at 90 years young, Joy Moors passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Middlechurch Personal Care Home.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, David M. Moors in 2016 (aged 91). She was also predeceased by her son Donald in 1981 (aged 19), and daughter Valerie in 2004 (aged 49).
She is survived by her son Craig (Lynn); daughters, Barb (Glenn), Dorothy (Win), and Bev (John). She will also be missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joy was raised in Seven Sisters, MB. Her most cherished memories from her youth were participating in curling, and attending barn dances with friends and future husband Dave. Mum would always tell the story of how they met. She was the bus driver, and Dad didn't want to ride the bus. She convinced him to get on, and their courtship started. They lived in Seven Sisters for a few years and then moved to Sanford, MB, where Dad was raised. They eventually settled in Transcona, where they remained in their home for 56 years. Mum was well known for a job she loved, as the electrical lady at Beaver Lumber for 17 years.
She was a devoted wife and mother of six kids. She enjoyed baking for everyone, being a hockey mum to her boys, and a mentor to her girls. Mum enjoyed her many travels with family and friends. Mum had a great attitude, and lived up to her name of Joy. She brought much "Joy" to all those she knew. She always made the best of whatever life threw her way.
Her last few years were spent in Middlechurch where she made new friends and appreciated the care and attention she received from staff. She definitely enjoyed her family taking her out on numerous "outings", as well as playing cards with her, right up until her final days.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place with a private family graveside service.
If friends wish to do so, donations may be made in memory of our Mum, to the Arthritis Society (www.arthritis.ca) or a charity of their choice.
We were blessed to have you in our lives, and now we cherish you in our hearts.
