Obituary of ADELINE THERESA PIELECH
ADELINE THERESA PIELECH
Passed on April 30, 2018 On April 2, 1928 Adeline (Addie) Geras was born. Her parents, Mary and Frank (both of Polish descent) believed and instilled strong family values throughout our mom's early years. Attending Isaac Newton High School, she met and fell in love with her soulmate, our father, Stan. Both began working after completing high school and on July 8, 1950 they were wed at St. John's Cantius Church. Our mom's early married years were filled with fishing trips to Trout Lake and Pine Falls, B.B.Q.s, and highly competitive games of penny Rumoli. These never forgotten moments were often shared and enjoyed with her three sisters, Angie, Bunny and Franny, plus their lifetime partners, Mitch, Bill and Tony.
Our mom and dad, along with our mom's sisters all began their goals of owning a home and having a family. Over the next years Mom and Dad worked to co-own and run a small corner grocery store on Aberdeen Avenue, then moved on to a home on Polson, when Dad became a salesman in the paint industry, went to Yorkton, Saskatchewan for two years, then returned to Winnipeg. During these years she gave birth to three children (Debbie, David, Robin) and finally settled into their dream home in the Maples.
On November 21, 1973 her soulmate passed away and the future became uncertain. A newer home with a large mortgage and high interest rates, no incoming life insurance or financial support. At that time, without discussion or fear, she decided that she would continue to provide a home and not uproot her children. This decision started her long career at Sears. She managed to pay off that home and maintained it inside and out for the next 45 years. While she did this she managed to provide a birthday gift and fresh made "birthday" apple pie every year, a Christmas gift and filled stockings every year, a fridge with drinks and snacks every visit. She never raised her voice in anger, or complained about her life. She never made any attempts to find a new soulmate. When not answering the phone, she could be at bingo, walking to the store, or sitting in the backyard under the shade of her apple tree, reading the Free Press and enjoying a beer. She loved her Bombers and Jets and going to Sonia's at Lockport.
On April 2 our mom celebrated her 90th birthday and received, with great delight, an official congratulations from the Prime Minister of Canada. On Monday, April 30, God answered her recent prayers. She has rejoined with her soulmate (our beloved dad) and rejoices with her parents, sisters and in-laws, and all past family and friends for eternity. Spring has arrived and the robins will build a nest in her backyard tree and sing to our mom in Heaven. Love from all your family.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Ghost Parish Cemetery (4387 Main Street).
Donations in memory of Mom can be made to her charity of choice, The Winnipeg Humane Society.
