Obituary of JOHN BOSWICK
JOHN BOSWICK January 5, 1926 September 2, 2012
Peacefully on September 2, 2012 John passed away with his wife Olga by his side. Life challenges were not unfamiliar to him, facing the accidental loss of his father, hard economic times and illness early in his life. In 1952 his luck changed when he met the woman he would marry two years later. He never denied his wife a chance to visit her parents and family in Tolstoi, MB, even if it meant he would have to help unload a boxcar or fix a TV. A loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle, he was a good provider and a pleasure to know. Besides being a dedicated family man he had hobbies that included radio communication and electronics, music, photography, and geology. He was a man of many trades including carpentry and interior finishing, electrical, and plumbing to name a few. When he was able, he enjoyed curling, fishing, golfing, and cross country skiing as well as travelling fairly extensively through many parts of Canada and the US. He particularly took pleasure in spending time at the cottage at Grand Beach. Blueberry picking or fishing were often part of the plan, given the right conditions. While he had several jobs during his working years, he especially enjoyed teaching electronics at Tec Voc High School until his retirement in 1991. Undoubtedly he was able to teach us about all aspects of life and death, right up until his last breath. John was predeceased by his father Joseph, mother Anna, brother Michael, brother-in-law Jack Greaves, father and mothers-in-law William and Katherine Stefanchuk, and sister and brothers-in-law Junie and Robert Jacques. He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Olga, sons Brian and Robert (Adele), grandsons Daniel and Ben, his very special brother Walter (June), sister Mary Greaves, sister-in-law Anne, brother-in-law John Stefanchuk (Elizabeth), sister-in-law Mary Wegner, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will take place Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg with Deacon Gordon Mendres officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's honour to Riverview Health Centre 3West. Special thanks are directed to Access River East and associated Winnipeg Regional Health Authority staff but especially to the staff of Riverview Health Centre 3West for the wonderful care and compassion given to John and family during his stay.
