Obituary of JOSIP (JOE) BACINGER
JOSIP (JOE) BACINGER
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Josip (Joe) Bacinger on January 19, 2018 at the age of 74.
He is survived by his son Michael; his son Robert (Bernice) and granddaughter Halle; his brother Ivon, and sisters Jasna and Nada in Croatia. He is preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Franciska, and a younger brother.
Joe was born on November 7, 1943 in Čakovec, Croatia. He immigrated to Canada in 1962 and made his home in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he became a Canadian citizen in March 1968.
Before he retired he was self-employed as a residential/commercial painter. He enjoyed his summers fishing and relaxing outdoors at his ‘second’ home at Nutimik Lake in Whiteshell Provincial Park. During his younger years he played outdoor soccer with the Winnipeg Croatia Soccer Club. One of his best memories was playing a season of soccer with his two sons. Joe also enjoyed woodworking, artist painting, cooking, gardening, ballroom dancing and playing cribbage.
A Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 - 7pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel - 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
His family would like to thank Dr. Peter Bialy, nurses and staff of Unit 4, and I.C.U., at Seven Oaks Oak Hospital, for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
