JAMES ROBERT GILBERT

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, James, at Riverview Health Centre on Saturday, January 13, 2018.

James was predeceased by his beloved wife Lorraine and daughter Cindy.  He leaves to mourn his daughters, Wendy (Brian) and Diane; grandchildren, Nicole (Kyle), Michael (Samantha), Chris (Evelyn) and Steven; and great-grandchildren, Sophie and Savannah.

James was born in Winnipeg on October 14, 1936 and this is where he raised his family.  Later in life when the children were grown, he and Lorraine moved to Lac Lu, ON and built their dream house.  Dad took great pride in his garden and was always willing to roll up his sleeves and lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. The example that Dad set instilled a strong work ethic not just in his children, but in many generations of his family.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In accordance with Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

The family thanks Dr. Babick, Dr. Tim Hiebert, the Riverview Palliative Care team and the legions of home care nurses that looked after Dad over the years.
