ANNE LENIUK

Obituary of ANNE LENIUK

ANNE LENIUK (nee KUKURA) It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mom and Baba, Anne Leniuk on August 29, 2012 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Anne leaves to mourn and cherish her memory daughters, Joanne Malenko (Allan), Patricia Ouellette (Robert) and grandchildren Marc, Luc and Elise Ouellette. She is survived by sister Olga Kondra (Ernest). She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by husband Joseph in 1976, parents Michael and Malania Kukura, brothers Pete, Alex and Andrew, grandson John Paul Ouellette. Anne was born and raised in Hyas, Saskatchewan and graduated from Sacred Heart in Yorkton. After teaching in surrounding areas, she moved to Winnipeg in 1950 and married Joseph Leniuk in 1954. Her strong faith in God and loving devotion to Blessed Virgin Mary was inspirational. It was this deep faith that gave her strength to endure the hardships of being a young widow. She never complained, was always optimistic, never asked for anything in return and made sure you never left her home hungry. She was an active member at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, took great pride being a UCWLC and choir member for over 50 years spending countless hours as a church and Welcome Home volunteer. In 1989 she retired from Superstore to become a full time proud Baba never missing a game or concert. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, knitting, traveling and gardening but her greatest passion was her family. The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Coates for his years of TLC, staff of 6A Medicine at St. Boniface Hospital, Home Care staff, family, friends and clergy at St. Joseph’s. Special thank you to Lou Ann and Garry Stetch family and Fr. Bohdan Lukie. Prayers will be held on Monday, September 3, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church Shrine Fund or Welcome Home. VICHNAYA PAM’YAT (Memory Eternal)
