Obituary of HAZEL MARGUERITE DUKELOW
HAZEL MARGUERITE DUKELOW
(nee Briscoe)
Our dear Mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away in the early hours of December 26, 2017. Hazel will be sadly missed by her children Garry (Saundra), Gail (Rene) and Glenn (Gisela). She’ll also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Kirsten, Kelsey, Kurtis, Carla, Kyle, and Robert. Hazel was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren. Mom was born in Neepawa, Manitoba on March 8, 1923.
She was a gentle soul and a nurturing mother, most often there to support us in our day-to-day activities and education. Life wasn’t always easy but she managed to have a smile on her face and portray her witty sense of humour, which at times took us by surprise. Later in life she’d be in her 80’s and still be able to snow blow her driveway as well as the neighbor’s. When she got cold, she would come in the house, get a shot of brandy to warm up and then she would go out again.
We will remember her as a caring mother who never wanted to be a burden to anyone, always excusing herself for being a bother.
There were many cherished memories of summers spent at Nutimik Lake with family and friends out on the water fishing and boating.
Hazel was predeceased by her parents John and Elizabeth Briscoe, husband Robert, brothers Kenneth, James, Dennis and Raymond. Her sisters Lillian Briggs and Elsie Williams also predeceased Hazel. Left are her brother Allan, sisters Bernice Gibson, Cecilia Bough, and Maureen Turner. On December 30, 2017, Hazel’s brother Jack, passed at the age of 98.
A graveside service will be held at Brookside Cemetery on June 8 at 11 am. A reception will follow at the Victoria Inn, 1808 Wellington Avenue.
If so desired in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
