GEORGE SCHENDEL

1942 - 2017

 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Schendel on December 16, 2017.

He leaves behind to mourn, sons Kevin (Karen), Colin, brothers Jim, Gary (Ava), Marvin, sisters Linda and Patricia, sister-in-laws Marlene (Amel) and Donna, and many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth, father Werner, mother Emily, sister Veronica, father-in-law Nick, mother-in-law Katherine and brother-in-law John.

George was born August 25, 1942 in Winnipeg, and lived his entire life in North Winnipeg. Most of his working career was in the purchasing field at Versatile Mfg and Conviron.

Dad was an avid motorsports fan especially NASCAR, Outlaw Sprint and snowmobiling. No matter where he was or what he was doing he always had to be home Sunday to watch his racing.

George really enjoyed spirited conversations on almost any topic, he always had an opinion and enjoyed sharing it, which is something we will all miss.

On warm days dad could be found puttering around in his garage with the radio on  QX 104 and a Budweiser in a coozie!

In the winter months ,until a few years ago, as soon as there was enough snow... Dad loved nothing more than heading to Hillside Beach for a weekend of snowmobiling with John and Norman! They would ride the trails for hours, then head to the Birchwood for “supper” because then they wouldn’t have to do dishes......or so they said!

Thanks to the Doctors and Staff at the Emergency and Intensive Care at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care and support.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
