Obituary of ANGELICI KARAFOTA
ANGELICI KARAFOTA
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Angelici Karafota at the age of 92 on Friday, October 27th, 2017 at Concordia Hospital.
Angelici will be remembered by her daughter Aristia, her son-in-law Frank Saclamacis, her two grandchildren Demetrios (Nicola) and Angelo (Andrea) and her four great-grandchildren; Fotis, Demetrios, Alexia and Aristea.
Angelici was born on February 25th, 1925 in Eressos, Lesvos, Greece. Faced with hardships and challenges from a young age, she persevered and devoted her life to her strong Christian values including the upbringing and wellbeing of her only daughter. This dedication and commitment transitioned into her daughter’s marriage, where she soon immigrated to Winnipeg, MB in 1967 and had a pivotal role in the caregiving of her two grandchildren.
Angelici was a woman of extreme strength, courage, dignity, pride and love. A devoted Christian and an active member of the Greek Community at the Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, volunteering in many local events including the Folklorama festival. Her zest in life was enriched with her annual summer trips back to Greece.
Angelici - your long life’s journey has come to an end and now you have transitioned peacefully into Christ’s loving arms. As you enter your new heavenly home, may you rest in peace for which you truly deserve. We love you always, may your memory be eternal and may God be with you.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the doctors and staff on the third floor at the Concordia Hospital for all of their caring and companionship.
Funeral service will be held at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Avenue on Thursday, November 2nd, 2017 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church located at 2255 Grant Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3P 0S2.
