Obituary of FRANCISCO PONTE
FRANCISCO PONTE
1911-2017
After a long, full and blessed life, Francisco passed away at Luther Home Personal Care Facility on October 22, 2017, at nearly a month short of his 106 birthday.
He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his daughter Aurora (Joe), granddaughters Maria (Victor), Elizabeth (Tony), Danielle (Tino) and great grandchildren Victor M. (Robyn), Gil, Paula, Tania, Diana (Diniz), and Toze, as well as great great grandchildren Mateo, Alia and Safira, along with numerous other family members in Portugal, France, and Canada.
Francisco had a heart of love, for his family and those in need, never hesitating to share the little he had. His opinionated and stubborn nature was well balanced by a quick witted humour that somehow left you wanting more.
He knew the value of honest hard work having spent many years as a mason in Portugal and for CN Rail here in Winnipeg and that even though there are tough times or you may not have much there is never a bad reason for a feast or good time. He showed us that if you have little but the right people in your life you have a lot.
During his retired years in Portugal, if he could not be found working his land he could almost certainly be found napping somewhere on it. Either in a corn field, in the pasture amongst his sheep, or under any tree.
We would like to say a special thank you The Luther Home for the care they have provided our dearest Francisco.
