Obituary of LAURINDA ALMEIDA DE SOUSA
LAURINDA ALMEIDA DE SOUSA
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Laurinda Almeida de Sousa. Peacefully at home she entered Heaven’s gates on Saturday, September 30th, 2017 and is now reunited with her husband Daniel.
Remaining to cherish Laurinda’s memory are her daughters, Maria, Connie (Fernando), Lucy; sons, Daniel (Cynthia), Manuel (Charlotte); grandchildren, Justin (Alanna), Brittany (Tom), Dylan, Brennan, Daniel, Matthew, Serena and Ericka; sisters-in-law, Conceicao, Noema, Gloria and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel; son Duarte Manuel; parents; five sisters and two brothers.
She was born Laurinda Almeida Medeiros in Arrifes, Sao Miguel, Portugal on May 12, 1933. She immigrated to Canada in 1965. Mom dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren. It brought great joy and fulfillment to open her home to family and friends, always greeting them with homemade meals and love. She cherished spending time camping with family and relaxing with her dogs, Luca and Daisy.
Thank you to all her homecare workers from WRHA and ILRC for providing loving care to mom in her home.
We’d like to express our thanks to the firefighters and paramedics for their care and compassion. We’d also like to thank all our relatives and friends who have offered their prayers and support during this difficult time.
Prayer service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 4588 Roblin Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. also at the Parish with Rev.
