My deepest sympathies to the family. I knew Chief Throassie back in the late 70s and the 80s. He and I attended many meetings when I worked for KTC, Awasis and MSB. He was a strong and forthright person and leader. He was also a good pilot. Rest in peace Chief.

My heartfelt condolences on behalf of all my colleagues at the Government of Nunavut. I am deeply saddened by Peter's passing. I feel honoured and privileged to have met him. His devotion to the Ghotelnene K'otineh Denesuline land claim agreement, which is where I knew him, is to be admired and respected. Though I'm sure Peter, and everyone who worked with him, is disappointed that Peter won't get to sign the final agreements, we will acknowledge that it was his hard work and dedication that laid the ground for the treaties to happen in the first place. On a personal note, I really looked up to Peter (literally and figuratively), he was warm and wise. He taught me how to use the auto-correct on my smart phone! I will always remember his gentle voice and smile.
