Obituary of WALLY LAWRENCE PITURA
WALLY LAWRENCE PITURA
January 8, 1953 – September 3, 2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Wally on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at his home at the age of 64 years.
Wally is survived by his loving partner of 25 years, Cyndi Pidborchynski; his sister Terri (brother-in-law Bryan Okurley); nephew Graeme (Liz); brother Patrick (sister-in-law Jennie); and nieces, Stacey and Jillian. He was predeceased by his father Walter in 1978 and his mother Anne in 2014.
Wally was born in Winnipeg and attended schools in the West Kildonan area, graduating from Garden City Collegiate. Wally was employed at Chrysler Canada and was a lifelong employee. During his lifetime, he made many friends and in particular Stephen Kolody, his childhood best friend. Wally was honored to be Godfather to Stephen’s son Adam and he loved to spend time with him. Wally was a quiet, gentle soul and loved to help anyone in need. He volunteered with many organizations and gave generously of his time. He had a passion for cars and trucks as his friends could attest to. He acquired his aviation license (VRF) which included float planes. Wally loved West Hawk Lake and spent much of his time there. Wally had a great sense of adventure and loved to experience life. We will miss him greatly and we were blessed to have had such a wonderful person in our lives.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday, September 9, 2017 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 4535 Main Street.
If friends so desire, donations in Wally’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
