Obituary of OBRAD SUVAJAC
OBRAD SUVAJAC
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Obrad Suvajac at the age of 75 at Grace Hospice after a battle with cancer on August 24 2017 with his children by his side.
Obrad was predeceased by his lovely wife Zora (2008), his parents Tanasia, Stanojka and his brother Ostoja (2015).
Dad will be greatly missed by his children Slobodan (Gordana), Goran (Sandy), Sandra (Jeffrey), Savo (Amanda). He also leaves behind his loved and cherished 7 grandchildren Juliana, Marko, Milan, Stephanie, Ammy, Savannah and Leo and his sisters Visdosava, Nada, extended family and kumovi.
Dad was born January 31st, 1942 in Velika llova in former Yugoslavia. After leaving the army dad travelled to Austria, where he met the love of his life, Zora. In search for a better life dad came to Canada in 1967 with his dear friend Savo, two suits and a suitcase. A few months later their two loves Zora and Milena followed them after only knowing them for a short week. They were married for 40 beautiful years. After coming to Canada dad worked many construction jobs until 1976 when dad and mom started Obrad Stucco and Plastering, where he was self-employed for over 30 years eventually getting his sons into the family business.
Dad also was an active member with the Serbian Church community. In later years he enjoyed gardening, walking for hours on end and spending time with family and friends. Dad was always nice to everyone who crossed his path, he never treated anyone differently no matter who they were or where they came from. This is just one reason that he will greatly be missed. Deda we will love you and always miss you.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cancer Care Manitoba, especially Dr. Gingerich, Dr. Wong and all the great nurses that helped us through these difficult few months and finally the great care he received for his last few days from all the great staff from Grace Hospice. Thank you for the care, compassion and support to dad and the family at this trying time.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 7pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 10am at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 580 Talbot Ave. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery.
