Obituary of CESARE D’OTTAVIO
CESARE D’OTTAVIO
With great sorrow we announce the passing of Cesare D’Ottavio on August 17, 2017 after a short illness.
He was predeceased by his father Michele, his mother Guiseppina and sister Maria.
Cesare leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Hedwig; 2 sons Marcello (Brigida) and Martino (Aynsley); 3 granddaughters whom he adored, Marina, Olivia and Caroline. He also leaves behind numerous siblings, Silvia (Rafaelle), Guerino (Maria), Victorio (Dora), Fernando (Gail), Nello (Karen), Gina “Carolina”, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cesare D’Ottavio was born in Crognaleto (Terramo), Italy on December 8, 1934. He came to Canada in 1953. In 1958 after working at many jobs, Cesare was able to help bring his mother, brothers and sisters to Canada. He met Hedwig while they both worked at the Royal Alexander Hotel and in 1959 they wed. In 1963 their son Marcello was born, then 14 years later to the day their second son Martino was born. He worked for the Molson Breweries in the brew house for 22 years and retired at age 55. He enjoyed going to the cottage and gardening (many of them!). He was a very hard worker and good provider for his family he loved so much. He will be very sadly missed.
