Obituary of PETER WIECHERN

PETER WIECHERN It is with profound sadness that the family announces Peter’s passing on Sunday morning, November 6, 2011. He passed away quietly at home with his wife at his side. Peter leaves to mourn his wife of 45 years, Gisela (Schoenherr), son Heiko, and daughter Heidi (Eddy) Bianchi, grandchildren Kaylee Bianchi, Taylor, Darren, Jarrett Wiechern, and Rheinhart Krampetz. Also surviving are his sisters Monika (Adolf) Krampetz, Angelica (Bob) Stoesz, brother Henry (Sheryl), sister-in-law Eleanor Wiechern and brothers-in-law Dan Colter and Gunther Rosenthal. Peter was predeceased by his parents Heinrich and Meta, brother Wolfgang, and sisters Hilda Rosenthal and Inge Colter. A plumber by trade Peter was a proud member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union for 42 years. He was born August 5, 1941 in Schessel, Germany. The family immigrated to Canada in July 1956, settling in Emerson, Manitoba. Peter was a devoted husband, father and Opa who showed his love not in many words but in the way he spent time teaching and showing the people around him the values that were dear to him. As parents, the importance of hard work, strong character and integrity was instilled in his children. Gardening, reading and music were his passions. He will be deeply missed. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made on Peter’s behalf to CancerCare, Winnipeg.
