So many memories of hot summers and family fun in the backyard with a little wading pool for the adults and kids alike to cool off just a little bit. Getting together on Sundays for a visit and dinner and always together on holidays, this was our family.
We laughed and shared stories, praised one another on accomplishments and achievements through life.
Yes, my Grandmother knew how to bake, oh my did she ever! Anyone who knew her would know her kitchen was never without some baked good or soup on the stove! As a little girl when I would sleep over I would always wake to the beautiful aroma of her baking and cooking in the early hours of the morning! She taught me many recipes which I'm so thankful because she never wrote them down! Now I have them to share with my family so they can pass it down from generation to generation.
Grandma was an amazing person, with so many stories to tell and she always listened too. Even as a teenager I recall being able to open up and chat with her (how many teenagers feel that way nowadays?) I loved going to Bingo with her, we had so much fun. I loved the old school Bingo when we used bingo chips instead of those dabbers, was so much fun!
She raised a wonderful family and instilled the value of closeness and staying together. To visit and share experiences. I still make her chicken soup recipe often though it's never as good as hers and even my kids aren't afraid to tell me so!
Grandma, you are dearly missed but I am thankful for all the times we laughed and cried and enjoyed life. I am thankful for your stories and for you taking the time to teach me when I was ready to learn. I am grateful for knowing you and that my children also got to know you.
Although I moved away and saw you less often, visiting you was always one of the main things we looked forward to each year and something the kids couldn't wait to do. They miss you like crazy as well and were sorry they couldn't say goodbye, but we hold your memories in our hearts to get us through the dark times when sadness wants to creep in.
Just know that we always loved you, always will. We will always remember you and your recipes will be passed down from generation to generation!
I love you and know you are surrounded by those who passed on before you. Please say hi to my Mom, and Bella and Grandpa and give them a big hug from all of us here.
