Our deepest sympathy to Lydia and family. I have only wonderful memories of Joseph. He was in the same class in residential school. His whole family was very close to our family.
Joe has gone to the spirit world, much too soon. I pray for a good journey, and will be welcomed by so many.
Treasure his memory and live by his exceptional example.

I had the great honour of working with Joe from 1984 until just recently. He was kind, generous, considerate and insightful. I learned so much from him. We had the love of hockey in common....he would tell me to watch for the next great young NHL potentials..i loved those conversations. He took a genuine interest in me, my family and would always ask about the kdis...even as adults. Thankyou Lydia and family for sharing Joe with sooo many people. He is an inspiration to us all!

My sincere condolences to Joe's family
I met Joe along the hockey road. He was friends with my husband Willard Bittern. When my son Bailey was coming to Wpg for high school he wanted to take him in and put him in hockey. I of course obliged. Joe had a kind heart. He made time to watch my son play hockey he encouraged and guided him. I thank him for that.
I told my husband this morning I hope someone has a youth hockey tournament in memory of Joe. He loved kids loved to watch them play hockey and they loved him back. Especially his grandchildren he talked about them too.
I pray to give the family strength and comfort. RIP Joe you left us good memories

Joe was one of the most humble and honest person I have ever known. He was a kind and gentle soul who gave without the thought of reward, he brought comfort to myself when he knew I was missing my father who he knew and played hockey with, he will be irreplaceable in the Aboriginal hockey community as an organizer and supporter of minor and senior hockey, but most importantly a descent human being who loved to help his fellow man. God Bless you my friend.

No matter wherever he is, he'll always be watching over you. He will stay with you forever in your hearts and hang on to the many happy memories. The loss of one's father marks one of the most profound rites of passage in our life. Life doesn't seem fair sometimes and this is one of those moments. Your father was one of the good guys.
