May 29, 1924 - May 21, 2017
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Tom, dearly beloved Tata(Dad) to
Dorothy and son-in-law, Brian and Dziadzius to Robert, Chris, Ashley and Michelle.
He is also survived by nieces and nephews in Poland. He was predeceased by his
wife, Mirka, in 2016 and 5 older siblings.
Tom was born in the region of Tarnopol, Poland. At the age of 17, during WWII, he
was taken from his family and became a forced labourer in Germany under the Nazi
regime. At the end of the war, he met Mirka in Poland. He then worked in the coal
mines in Belgium for 5 years. Later, he came to Canada to join family in Brandon,
MB. He reunited with Mirka and they married in 1959. Tom worked as a baker in
Brandon and then at Co-op and Safeway in Winnipeg until he retired.
Tom and Mirka proudly passed on the Polish language and traditions to their family.
They spent countless hours helping to raise their grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital and all of Tom's
