FRANCESCA CECILIA LAO

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing on May 1, 2017 of our beloved Francesca, age 19, after a courageous battle with cancer at Children’s Hospital with family by her side.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving parents, Corrado and Carmela, brother Corrado. Also left to honor and cherish her deeply is her grandmother (Nona) Cecilia Costanzo, auntie Maria (John Owczar) and uncle Salvator, grandma Santina Lao, aunt Salvanna and cousin Cella, aunt Rita (Peter Breen), cousins Leah, Alana, Italia and Samuel, also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Winnipeg, Italy, Belgium and Australia and many friends in Winnipeg.

Francesca was predeceased by grandfather’s (Nono’s) Carmelo Costanzo and Francesco Lao.

Francesca attended Margaret Park, Edmund Partridge and West Kildonan Collegiate.

Frannie’s love for dancing, singing, swimming and going to school was her passionate thing to do.

Throughout her battle with cancer she continued on smiling and being strong, giving us the strength to carry on.

It will be lonely here without you. We will miss you more each day. Our lives will not be the same since you have been called away.

We would like to thank Francesca’s primary doctor, Dr. R. Yanofsky (retired), also a special thank you to Dr. S. Israels and all the doctors, nurses and staff on 3rd Floor, Unit 5 at CancerCare and also at Children’s Hospital CK5.

Prayers will he held on Monday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. with Viewing starting at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be uncle Salvator Costanzo, cousin Salvator Costanzo, Shane Dilka, Ari Leivl, Robert and Eddie Sokolewsky.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Francesca’s memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Children’s Hospital.
