JAMES JOSEPH GIBBONS

September 2, 1928 – April 24, 2017

Our family was sad to say our goodbyes to Dad / Papa who died at Grace Hospital at the age of 88. 

Predeceased by his youngest son Gregory Dad / Papa leaves to mourn his daughter Shar Lynn, son Jim (Iriss), son Randy (Rose) as well as 16 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. 

Dad worked at CNR for decades as a switchman and Hudson’s Bay as a shoe salesman until he retired at age 58.  He enjoyed travelling to Hawaii, living as a snowbird in Arizona, visiting his son & family in Vancouver & Palm Springs, and taking long walks through the English Gardens. He was a great lover of music, golf, tennis, American football, old movies and was an avid reader.

As per Dad’s request there will be no formal service and a private family interment will be held at a later date.  Please join us for a luncheon at Westhaven Retirement Community, 3033 Portage Avenue on Sunday May 7th from 2:00 to 4:00p.m. 

Thanks to staff at Grace Hospital, Deer Lodge Centre, Westhaven Retirement Community as well as the many Home Care workers and nurses.  If you wish, please make a donation in Dad’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation rather than sending flowers.
