It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Manuel Pacheco on November 4, 2011 at Stonewall Hospital at the age of 89 years.




Manuel is survived by daughters Maria Simao, Dulcina Tavares, Silvina Frias, Carminda (Liberto) Cabral, Nelia (Joe) Cabral; son Joáo (Alda); 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sister Zelia Ferriera and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.




He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Iria; sons-in-law Emanuel Tavares and Manuel Frias.




Manuel was born in San Miguel, Azores, Portugal and came to Canada on February 12, 1967. He worked at Versatile for 19 years. He was very active playing many instruments in the band and enjoyed making home made wine. Manuel loved spending time with his family.




The family would like to thank all of the staff at Stonewall Hospital for their care and compassion.




Prayers will be said on Monday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin Street N. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 8 at 9:00 a.m., also at the Church. Entombment will follow at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery.




In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Manuel's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
