ALEXANDER KOROLYK
Alexander Korolyk passed away on February 9, 2017. He is survived by his wife Bernice, son Allan in Australia, daughter Bev (Mike), granddaughter Shannon (Bill), sister Anne, nephew Blaine and niece Michelle.
Alexander was born in the Municipality of Rossburn, MB. He joined the Winnipeg Light Infantry and after training was sent overseas where he joined the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders. He saw action in Belgium, Holland and Germany, where he was wounded two weeks before the war ended. He than spent six months in the hospital before returning home.
After farming in Solsgirth, he moved with his family to Winnipeg, where he was employed by the Royal Alex Hotel (10 years), Marlborough Hotel (2 years) and the Lincoln Hotel (20 years), retiring in 1990.
Alexander and his wife travelled far and wide. He especially enjoyed taking his family to visit Allan in Australia. He then purchased a home in Scottsdale, Arizona, spending eleven winters enjoying golfing, making new friends and have family visit from Australia and Canada.
Special thanks to the staff on Tower 6 at Deer Lodge for their compassion and caring.
Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Alexander’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
