Wow, I had no idea about this until I just read the latest Fly-Fishing Canada newsletter, two months after the tragedy.
I deeply miss my good friend Janos. I'm so glad I got to fish with him on numerous occasions in the Nationals as competitors, and as recently as this past June on the Parklands lakes, where we talked at length about the upcoming Nationals there in May/June this year.
I enjoyed staying at his house and a wonderful home-cooked dinner with Rosza and his kids, and even got to coach his son Martin with some tips on playing the saxophone.
He was supreme in his efforts to encourage and coach the Manitoba youth fly-fishing endeavours.
I will be contributing as much as possible to the fundraising efforts for the kids. Wish I could do more!
It's very appropriate too that there will be a Janos Boda Memorial Trophy established this year in his honour and memory.
Janos, I will be thinking of you with every cast at this year's Nationals, and beyond.
