Obituary of MARIA DA LUZ BOTELHO RAPOSO
MARIA DA LUZ BOTELHO RAPOSO
November 5, 1932 – January 4, 2017
Peacefully on January 4, 2017 with her family by her side, Maria reached out and took God’s hand to her eternal rest.
Her life is remembered and celebrated by her husband of 65 years Augusto, her children Beverley (Cris), Eleanor (Jim), Joe (Frances), Manny, Tony (Lisa), Margaret (Derek): Grandchildren Linda, Mark, Matthew, Michael, Robert, Taylor, Morgan, Carson, Mikayla; Great- Grandchildren Ethan and Havana. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and many friends. Predeceased by her parents Manuel Botelho, Maria do Espirito Santo Luis and her brother Jose Botelho.
Mom/Vavo was a woman of never ending hope, faith and charity. Mom was a devout catholic true to her faith devoting countless hours helping her church especially with the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, S.S. Trinidade and Santo Cristo. Mom remained a faithful member until her health no longer allowed her to attend.
Her true joy and happiness was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She loved making Sunday dinners and always loved receiving requests and preparing many special traditional treats. Her infectious smile illuminated our lives. The countless ways that her loving spirit has touched all of us will never leave our hearts.
The family would like to give thanks and many hugs to Dr. Andrea Babick and the staff at St. Joseph’s Residence for their compassion, care, support and love for Mom during her stay there. Special thanks to all family and friends, for their love, support and regular visits; especially The Moreira Family.
Vigil Prayers 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017 and Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 9; both at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street North. Entombment to follow at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery 3990 Portage Ave.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Joseph’s Residence in memory of Mom or a charity of your choice.
