KEITH HAWKINSON

Obituary of KEITH HAWKINSON

KEITH LEONARD HAWKINSON 1953-2012 With great sadness we announce that Keith suddenly passed away at home on July 31, 2012. Left to cherish his memory, his wife Kim, sister Linda Schoettle, brother-in-law Bobby Schoettle, sister-in-law Debbie Eccles (Winston), best friend, brother-in-law Bob and Sue Buechler and his 3 amazing nephews Brett (Stefanie), Donn and Nok, Wayde (Nicole) and his cats Lucy and Tramp. He was predeceased by his parents Leonard and Margaret Hawkinson. Keith grew up in West Kildonan but took advantage of every opportunity to spend time with his cousins on the family farm in Lilyfield. It was his second home. He also enjoyed the times he spent with his dad and uncle Vic duck hunting in Delta Marsh. He always had lots of stories to tell about his adventures. Keith had various jobs over the years, when he was younger he drove for a private ambulance where he learned the need for speed. Then later joined the family business at Chick Lumber, where he developed many friendships. For the last 17 years, he worked for the government in Corrections where he had great respect for all his friends and colleagues. Keith lived life on his own terms; he had a personality that would fill the room. He was always there to lend a hand in anyway he could, whether you were family, friend or neighbour and even after his passing by being a donor. Keith had a passion for gardening and cooking, excelling at both. He had a love for collecting old cars, his latest a 1967 Dodge Dart. He was also big fan of NASCAR and his thrill was seeing Dale Earnhardt Sr. win his last race at Talladega Superspeedway. But his biggest passion was his beloved Kimmie, they were inseparable life mates. She had him for way too short a time. An open house celebrating Keith’s life will be held at his home on Saturday, August 25 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. All friends and family are welcome. "I will always love and cherish your memory, ‘till we meet again."
