Obituary of PHYLLIS RUTH HRYCIW
PHYLLIS RUTH HRYCIW
February 26, 1941 - December 8, 2016
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister, and her extended family, at the Health Science Center Hospital on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the age of 75.
Phyllis leaves her son, Jason Neale; daughter-in-law, Beverley Wight-Neale; grandchildren, Joshua and Emma Neale; and siblings, Mike (Jim), Pat, Clement, Elsa, Linda (Dennis), Millie, and Shirley (George).
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents Peter Hryciw and Catharina (Kay) Hryciw (nee Kowalchuk), nephews Dwayne, Kirk, and Jamie.
Mom was born on the family farm just west of Komarno. After finishing school, she ventured off to Winnipeg to pursue a new direction, working numerous jobs throughout her life to support herself and care for her only child. Her strength of character was formed in her early years as a farm girl and carried with her into her adult life as she became a generous soul, guided by the strength of her spiritual personality.
The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff on the GD5 wing at the HSC, including Dr. Monica Dowhanik and Dr. Carolina Araneda for their compassionate and kind care, which allowed for a respectful and dignified passing.
A special thanks to her sisters Elsa and Millie for their care and support in her final months.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment to follow at the Holy Trinity Cemetery in Komarno, MB.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Phyllis's memory either to the Manitoba Mental Health Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
