Obituary of LEBEAU FAITH JAKOBSON
LE BEAU FAITH JAKOBSON
On December 1st 2016, in Winnipeg Manitoba, our beloved Mother, Grandmother and friend, peacefully slipped away. She leaves to mourn: her children Cary Jakobson (Jake Griffin) and Brent Jakobson (Meagan Mutchmor); grandson William O'Donnell; sisters Betty Clarke (Hal) and Tania Schissler (Dave); nieces, nephews and countless friends and neighbours.
LeBeau was born, educated, raised a family and chose Winnipeg, Manitoba as her life long home. As an active member of her community, she enjoyed giving back. For many years, LeBeau volunteered at the East Kildonan YMCA, where many, many children learned to swim from Mrs. Jakobson. The Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg enjoyed LeBeau's participation first as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, then later as a full fledged member, then an active member of the Board of Directors. One of LeBeau's abiding passions was the visual arts and she shared this passion every year with her organization of the Art Show at the Icelandic Festival in Gimli, Manitoba. So may people over the decades have enjoyed the show, and have had exposure to great Icelandic artists.
Professionally, LeBeau earned tremendous success as a professional fund raiser first with the Winnipeg Symphony, as their Director of Fund Raising and Sponsorship, to the St. Boniface Research Foundation and then with the Victoria General Hospital Foundation.
After retirement, LeBeau, never slowed down. She switched her energies to taking care of senior friends and relatives, continued her volunteerism and enjoyed extra time going on adventures with her Grandson.
LeBeau's true love was animals of all kinds, always bird watching, feeding the neighbourhood rabbits and squirrels, but especially her dogs and cats. She was devoted to her many pets over the years. It was a common sight in her East Kildonan neighbourhood to see this small woman walking a very large Rotweiller dog. She had a way with animals.
LeBeau's passing has left a hole in so many lives. Her smile and wonderful laugh will be sorely missed.
