AUDREY KUZINA

Obituary of AUDREY KUZINA

AUDREY KUZINA Audrey was born in Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba on February 7, 1929. Her earliest years were spent on the Byman family homestead on what we now know as Blueberry Rock Road. Her mom (Violet) and her dad (Arvid) moved the family about 1/2 mile east and she spent her teen years living on the Winnipeg River. She grew up with her two older brothers, Gerry & Hank, and loved to follow them on their adventures; on the rock, and in the woods & fields, and of course on the river. She attended school in Lac du Bonnet, where she formed many friendships, some of which were strong and loving until the day of her passing. (Thank you Hallie) It was in Lac du Bonnet that she also met John, the resident barber, who came from the Arborg area to work. They fell in love and were married in St John's Anglican Church and then moved into Winnipeg to start their life together. Audrey spent the first 20 years of her marriage lovingly raising her 3 children; David, Glen & Maureen. She again formed many friendships on Beaverbend Crescent and enjoyed bowling, curling, and summer evenings on the front step, with the neighbours usually joining her & John for a cup of tea. Saturday nights quite often meant taking turns with the McLeods, the Danylenkos, & the Campbells for a few rye & cokes and a midnight snack. Audrey enjoyed travelling and reuniting with family & friends and the summer often meant long car trips. They went as far east as Montreal, as far west as Victoria, north to Thompson & south to Progresso, Mexico. For some of those early trips, with no car radio, Audrey would sing. Her one & only airplane ride was to the Bahamas in the early 80s. Like some of her friends, Audrey decided to venture out into the workforce. She chose the hospitality field, and worked in small restaurants and canteens in office buildings. One day, she took the plunge and opened her own canteen at Carter Temro. There she worked until her retirement, making breakfast and lunch, along with her assistant, for 75 to 100 people every day. During all of these years, Audrey and her family migrated most weekends in the summer back to Lac du Bonnet, and back to her family home on the Winnipeg River. Of course by this time it was only a cottage, and a small one at that. She and John started planning for their retirement, and purchased their own little piece of paradise 15 miles east of the Winnipeg River, at Coca Cola Falls. There, in 1975, they started construction on a new place with all the modern conveniences. This became their new home when John retired in 1986 and until his passing. Ten winters were spent in Harlingen Texas, and there was always a carload of goodies from Texas and Mexico when they arrived home. After John's passing, Audrey returned to Winnipeg and set up her own apartment. She continued to be involved in clubs, be active on boards, entertain, play games and cards, and of course make friends where ever she went. Right from the start, she was a wonderful, proud grandmother, always generous with her time and her love. Tears, like laughter, are a gift from God, so let us cry when we must and laugh when we can. We are comforted by her peaceful passing and we miss her.
