Obituary of SUSANA BOTELHO CORREIA
Susana Botelho Correia
After a difficult battle with cancer, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother Susana Botelho Correia at the young age of 59 on September 16, 2016. Her husband, children, mother, family and friends were by her side every step of the way as she courageously fought with every ounce she had.
She was predeceased by her father José Placido de Medeiros, mother in law and father in law Ana and Julio and her brothers in law Manuel and João.
She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Avelino, children Ana (Sukh), Michael (Jill) and Andrew (Raquel); mother Maria José Botelho Moniz, sisters Hortencia, Augusta, Lorena (Rene) and brother José (Fátima); sister in law Maria (Tony), brother in laws Manuel (Connie) and Brian; her many wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; extended family and all her friends whom she considered to be family as well.
Susana was born in Lombinha da Maia, Açores and she immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada when she was 17 years old. Here, she met the love of her life Avelino, and together they created a beautiful family together. Susana had an infectious laugh and smile and she was loved by many. She greatly enjoyed family and social gatherings, being a part of Casa do Minho, Portuguese music and dance, helping others, and traveling (especially shopping trips to the USA and visiting her hometown). Although she does not have any grandchildren yet, we know she would have loved them very much.
We would like to thank the many Doctors, Nurses and health care workers at HSC, St. Boniface Hospital and Cancer Care who cared for our mom.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at 8:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church (181 Austin St. N). Mass of Roman Catholic Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 22 at 10:00 a.m., also at the Immaculate Conception Church, followed by interment at the Assumption Cemetery. We would like to thank Msgr. Comeault for joining us in prayer.
