Obituary of WOLFGANG (WALTER) SIEGFRIED PISKE
WOLFGANG (WALTER) SIEGFRIED PISKE
Wolfgang (Walter) passed away peacefully on September 14, 2016. He was 85.
He is survived by Helga, his wife of 64 years, daughter Liane (Bob), son Frank (Joy) and grandsons Kiefer and Nicholas.
Wolfgang immigrated to Canada in 1955 to enable his family to have a better quality of life than his native Germany allowed. He worked as an electrician for CN, Canada Packers and the Transcona Springfield School Division. He was hard working and always willing to help others.
He was an accomplished athlete in many sports including long distance cycle racing, soccer, bowling, shuffleboard and competitive card games. He also loved anything involving jazz.
Wolfgang was a long standing member of the Elmwood Legion #9 and the German Club of Winnipeg.
The family fondly remembers the numerous road trips taken and the assistance he gave in building and updating our homes. We will miss all the fun family get togethers which will never be the same without his smiling face.
Many thanks to the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge for the outstanding care given.
As per Wolfgang's wishes, cremation has taken place. A service celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
