Obituary of ROY V. HAWRYSH
ROY V. HAWRYSH
September 17, 1924 – August 13, 2016
Peacefully in his sleep at Deer Lodge Hospital on Saturday August 13, 2016.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years Anne (nee Kanski), son Roy (Kathy) of Winnipeg, daughter Debbie Vanriel of Saskatoon, sister Helen (Bill) Nowak also of Saskatoon. He also leaves to mourn his passing grandchildren David (Olivia), Michael, Hilary Bergen, Erika Sveinson (Glenn), Ryan Bergen and great-grandchildren, Morgana and Matthew.
He was predeceased by his sister Ann Bishop of Kenora.
Though born and raised in Kenora, ON Roy lived most of his life in Winnipeg with a good portion of that as a resident on Polson Ave. The last two years he and Anne resided in an assisted living suite on Sinawik Bay in St. James.
Roy was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII and was later employed with CP rail, Strong and Scott, Kleysen Transport and then the Transcona/Springfield School Division.
Roy was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a long-time member of the Arlington Sports Club. He was also a successful bowler for many years.
After retiring Roy and Anne travelled often in Canada, Mexico and Hawaii. He was also active in his senior clubs.
Although his heath was failing in the last few years, Roy always had a wave and a smile for everyone.
Flowers are gratefully declined but if you so wish you may make a donation to the charity of your choice.
A private interment has taken place at Assumption Cemetery.
A Memorial Tree was planted for ROY V.
