Obituary of CATHERINE (KAY) PROSICK
CATHERINE (KAY) PROSICK
May 28, 1940 – August 6, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that we must say goodbye to our beautiful mother.
Mom was born into a Ukrainian Immigrant family in Piney, MB and grew up on the family farm in Sirko, MB. As a young adult mom, she moved to Fort Francis, ON and then to Winnipeg. Mom was married and lived in Seven Sisters, MB until her separation. She moved to Winnipeg in the early 70’s. Mom did her best to raise us three girls in a big city; as a country girl and as a single parent. It was extremely difficult for mom, but she put on a brave face for us.
Mom was a quiet but strong Christian woman who believed in God with a quiet conviction. Her happiest times were spent with her grandchildren, Zachary and Gina. She was very proud of them. Mom also enjoyed our visits to the farm reminiscing with her late brother Nick and late sister Dorothy whom she was especially close to. She cherished her few trips to Israel meeting grandchildren and spending time with Sarrah and Leah. It was bitter sweet as we know.
Mom worked menial jobs to get by and upgraded her education to get a job with Child and Family Services of which she was proud of. Mom lived in St. Vital in her later years until April 2016 when her declining health forced her to move into the Middlechurch Home until her passing.
August 6, 2016 was a beautiful day to go to heaven.
Kay is survived by her beloved daughters, Lori Farina (Vince), Sarrah “Peggy” Goldstein (David) and Leah “Kelly” Perry (Tal). She is also survived by her sister Sophie and brother Peter; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and dear nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at Middlechurch Home for treating mom with dignity.
We love you mom!
